This weekend I will be participating in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer for the 6th year in a row. By the end of this weekend I will have walked 360 kilometers and raised over $23,000 for Breast Cancer Care and Research!
Funds raised stay in BC and benefit the BC Cancer Foundation. Funds have contributed to purchase BC's first Digital Mammography machine and more.
This year thanks to my clients, colleagues and staff and Realtors at Macdonald Realty Westmar, I was able to raise over $3,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation!
Special thanks goes out to Gord Pipkey at Real Mortgage Services: www.realmortgage.net who donated $1296 this year!
This year I am dedicating my walk to: Cheryl, Angie and Sharon who have all had their own battles against Breast Cancer.
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a very special event. It is not only a fundraiser, but is also a pilgrimage/tribute to those who have or are currently battling Breast Cancer, those who have succumbed to the disease and to families who are supporting someone living with the disease or who have lost someone. It is a chance to walk with complete strangers, share stories and gain a sense of community around this devastating disease.
It is a positive event, but also an emotional event. What gets me every year is the number of very young ladies who have had or are currently battling Breast Cancer, many of whom are much younger then my two daughters. This is what keeps me coming back to the event year after year.
